WATER TEMPERATURE GRAND ISLE
TODAY, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2021
The effects of Water Temperature
Fish are cold blooded, which means their metabolism is strongly influenced by the temperature of their surrounding environment. Fish want to stay comfortable. Consequently, even a small change or break will cause fish to move from one location to another.
In general, this behavior varies for each species and place, so we can not specify an ideal water temperature, however as a general rule we will try to avoid the temperatures abnormally cold in summer and too warm in winter. Remember, look for the comfort zones and you will find the fish.
Current Temperature air / water
DECEMBER 9, 2021, 2:01 pm
Water temperature plays an important role in the behavior of fish. When the water is cold, fish are lethargic and inactive, and the same happens if the water is too hot.
At this moment the current water temperature in Grand Isle is - . The average water temperature in Grand Isle today is - .

NOTICE
Our prediction algorithm for water temperature is in development phase. Although in most places we get a value very close to the actual sea water temperature, it may not be accurate in certain areas. Please, use with caution.

SWELL GRAND ISLE
TODAY, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2021
Significant wave height
It is normal for waves to vary in height from one to the next. To give you an idea of the range of waves to expect at a given time, we consider the significant wave height as the average height of the highest third of the waves in the open sea.
The significant wave height provides an estimation of wave heights recorded by a trained observer from a fixed point at sea because we tend to pay more attention to the larger waves.
Current wave conditions
DECEMBER 9, 2021, 2:01 pm
Wave direction - (-°)
Wave period -
Most frequent waves
The most frequent wave height will be about half the height of the significant wave.
Significant height
About 14% of waves will be higher than the significant wave height (about 1 in every 7 waves).
Maximum waves
It is normal to expect a wave of twice the height of the significant wave about 3 times in 24 hours.
This means at this moment you need to be prepared for a wave of - before heading out on the water.

SURF FORECAST IN GRAND ISLE
We consider the waves in the open sea.
The waves you will find on the shore can be slightly affected by the orientation of the coastline and the seabed of the beaches, although in most cases they are usually equivalent.

The following graph shows the progression of the tidal coefficient in the month of December of 2021.These values give us a rough idea of the tidal amplitude in Grand Isle, forecast in December.
Large coefficients indicate important high and low tides; major currents and movements usually take place on the sea bed. But bear in mind that this tidal amplitude may be greatly affected by the weather and you should also consult the weather forecast in Grand Isle, the wind in Grand Isle and the surf forecast in Grand Isle before you go fishing.

TIDE TABLE GRAND ISLE
All the times are generated in local time in Louisiana and the daylight saving time change has also been borne in mind for your convenience, so you don't need to add or subtract anything.
The heights are expressed in feet referenced to Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW). It is the average of the lower low water height of each tidal day observed over the official time segment over which tide observations are taken and reduced to obtain mean value.
You can change the time format and the default unit for height in the
display settings menu

SOLUNAR ACTIVITY GRAND ISLE
TODAY, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2021
SOLUNAR ACTIVITY: AVERAGE
According to the solunar theory, today is an average day for fishing, the fish activity forecast is average.
The best times of day for fishing are:
MAJOR PERIODS
from 3:49 am to 5:49 am
Opposing lunar transit (moon down)
from 4:21 pm to 6:21 pm
Lunar transit (moon up)
This period also coincides with sunset; therefore the sun will exercise more influence, possibly obtaining greater activity than expected.
MINOR PERIODS
from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm
Moonrise
from 10:28 pm to 11:28 pm
Moonset
5:49 am
3:49 am
12:15 pm
11:15 am
6:21 pm
4:21 pm
11:28 pm
10:28 pm
The solunar periods indicate the best times of day for fishing in Grand Isle. The major periods correspond to the lunar transit (passage of the moon over the meridian) and the opposing lunar transit and last approximately 2 hours. The minor periods begin with the rising and setting of the moon and its duration is approximately 1 hour.
When the solunar period coincides with sunrise or sunset, we can expect more activity than initially planned. These peak periods are reflected in green . We additionally point out in the chart the periods of greatest activity during the year with a big blue fish on the period bar + info
